SHORT BIO
Nekohl Johnson is a U.S. Army veteran, author, facilitator, and advocate whose work centers veterans, leadership, healing, and wholeness. With more than 35 years of experience spanning clinical laboratory science, healthcare leadership, education, and community service, she brings a unique perspective shaped by both professional expertise and lived experience. Nekohl is the founder of Where We Meet, Inc., leads Be Whole with Nekohl, and is the author of A Queen Was Born Again. Her current work focuses on supporting women veteran leaders through wholeness-centered retreats, respite programs, and community experiences.
LONG BIO
Nekohl Johnson is a U.S. Army veteran, author, facilitator, healthcare leader, educator, and advocate whose work is rooted in service, healing, leadership, and wholeness. She served eight years in the U.S. Army as a 92B10 Medical Laboratory Specialist, including deployment to Saudi Arabia during the Persian Gulf War, before being honorably discharged.
Her professional career spans more than 35 years in clinical laboratory science, healthcare operations, leadership, and education. Over the course of her career, Nekohl rose to serve as Director of Laboratory and Cardiopulmonary Services, worked in corporate compliance leadership, and served as an adjunct health science professor.
Nekohl holds certifications in Clinical Laboratory Science, an Associate of Arts from City Colleges of Chicago, a Bachelor of Science in Business & Technical Management from DeVry University, and an MBA in Executive Leadership from Olivet University. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in Licensed Clinical Social Work at Governors State University.
Today, Nekohl's work increasingly centers the veteran community. She facilitates the Southside Strong Coalition for Suicide Prevention Veterans Coffee Chat and leads Be Whole with Nekohl, through which she creates opportunities for reflection, healing, personal growth, and greater wholeness. She is also the founder of Where We Meet, Inc., a nonprofit theater company serving veterans and trauma survivors through arts-based and therapeutic programming.
Nekohl is the author of A Queen Was Born Again, a memoir rooted in her own journey of facing the pain of her past, healing, faith, and moving toward wholeness. Her current mission includes supporting women veteran leaders through wholeness retreats and respite programs that create space to reconnect with themselves, their purpose, and the communities around them.
